Nestled in the foothills of Santiago Peak in the Saddleback Valley and just a quick jaunt from the glistening shores of the Pacific, it’s tough to conjure a more idyllic setting than Mission Viejo from which to start your journey of recovery.

Boasting those enviable and eternally comfortable Southern California and located outside of the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles proper, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more comfortable area.

More on what makes Mission Viejo and Orange County special in a moment though.

First, let’s discuss what rehab is.

What Is Rehab?

Rehab is how a substance use disorder is treated.

Treatment falls into two broad categories: inpatient and outpatient.

The type of rehab that suits you best is dependent on the nature of your addiction, it’s best to add a little color to both categories though and the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) does a great job with that:

Inpatient – “Licensed residential treatment facilities offer 24-hour structured and intensive care, including safe housing and medical attention. Residential treatment facilities may use a variety of therapeutic approaches, and they are generally aimed at helping the patient live a drug-free, crime-free lifestyle after treatment”.

Additionally, inpatient care can be broken down into short- and long-term stays. Short-term being 1 to 6 months and long-term being 6 to 12.

Outpatient – “a wide variety of programs for patients who visit a behavioral health counselor on a regular schedule. Most of the programs involve individual or group drug counseling, or both… Treatment is sometimes intensive at first, where patients attend multiple outpatient sessions each week. After completing intensive treatment, patients transition to regular outpatient treatment, which meets less often and for fewer hours per week to help sustain their recovery”.

At Safe Harbor, we’re keenly focused on providing the best inpatient rehab possible, combining holistic and traditional methods, to set you up for lifelong success and the fulfillment that comes from sobriety which you so richly deserve.

You’ll also be able to clear that first big hurdle by detoxing with us as well and we’ll be there for you even after you’ve completed inpatient treatment with aftercare planning services that support your recovery.

Now back to the joys of Mission Viejo.

What Are the Benefits of Going to a Mission Viejo Rehab?

A Mission Viejo rehab center comes with quite a few benefits.

Natural Beauty

Waking up to the breathtaking backdrop of the Santa Ana Mountains every day never gets old. On top of that, Mission Viejo is also dotted with several wonderful lakes.

Hiking

Of course, being so close to mountains means you have incredible hiking at your disposal. From Wilderness Glen to Oso Creek Trail to the Arroyo Trabuco Trail that takes you from the mountains to the sea, you’ll have plenty to keep you busy.

Beaches

You can’t talk about Southern California without mentioning beaches, it’s probably against the law even. Yes, SoCal is renowned for its coast and Mission Viejo is no exception. While not directly on the water, we’re essentially a stone’s throw away, in fact, we hold our workout sessions on a beach just 5 miles from our facility.

Weather

Yes, the temps in Orange County and Mission Viejo are more or less perfect year-round. Never too hot and never too cold, it’s just right.

Proximity to LA

While Mission Viejo is on the outskirts of Los Angeles, it’s not far enough away that you can’t enjoy a city escape and revel in the vast amount to do in the city. From museums to (more) beaches to amusement parks and more, LA is chock full of fun.
